Keys to Responsible Recreation in the BackCountry

Having a good time is pretty high on everyones to do list, especially when surrounded by awesome views and super-awesome friends. We hike, bike, climb, camp, raft, fish, hunt, four-wheel, sleep and eat among other things in the backcountry. If not done properly, thats a lot of wear and tear on our natural resources. Responsible recreation ensures future outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors as you have. Without a recreation code of ethics, our backcountry would become a thing of the past. Here are some universally agreed upon keys for having a good time the right way.

In warmer temperatures, consider incorporating a beautiful trellis with vibrant bougainvillea or vines growing overhead. It provides excellent added protection from the harsh summer sun and the rain. In desert or tropical environments, take it a step further and install ceiling fans or misters to the trellis for additional comfort.-Be a good neighbor - control your noise and your pets. Always keep your dog on a leash no longer than 6 feet, and away from public swimming areas. Barking and not cleaning up after pets leads to many complaints from other outdoor enthusiasts. Do not leave pets unattended.Making lasagna, more specifically duck lasagna, is not easy. It's a nine hour process and that is if you are an expert duck lasagna chef as Peter Cambor is. For our special dinner, the NCIS LA star worked two days cooking lasagna. And the crazy thing is, after all the work you still throw out the duck!1. Codes and Restrictions2. Scope of Your Outdoor ProjectWhen conceiving of your new outdoor kitchen, always consider the aesthetics and ask yourself: Will the details and materials work with the existing architecture of the home? How does it look from the inside looking out?Not being a fan of lasagna, and of course would never even give a thought to making lasagna, all I can say is my initial portion size was more than six ounces and then I ate a second and third serving. Of course, I am on a diet so I had to stop after my third helping but to be honest, I just couldn't get enough!-Be respectful of the natural environment keep the trees and shrubs alive and growing. Nails and wires should not be used on trees because they can cause serious damage to trees. Burn damage will permanently scar or kill a tree.Besides cooking lasagna, the NCIS LA star served two great bottles of red wine and wonderful cheeses as an appetizer, including a truffle cheese that I also couldn't get enough of. Caesar salad was courtesy of me and dessert, well let's just say it was Whole Foods who was the hired pastry chef.6. Climatic Conditions
