Officer shoots pit bull while responding to domestic dispute

A Colorado Springs police officer shot and killed a pit bull on Monday when it attacked him while he tended to a domestic dispute.

3. Dried leaves, wood sticks, pine needles and other flammable debris should be cleared away for at least 10 feet around the fire pit. Use a mesh screen lid to prevent flying sparks from starting fire. Another option is to pre-water the surrounding area. The builders include Nicola Bartlett and Stuart Moorhouse, from West Yorkshire, who said: "We have been planning and preparing for this for 18 months. The wood we are using is all recycled. We have practiced building parts of it at our base in Yorkshire but now it's really exciting to see it taking shape between a Swiss Chalet and the Lichtenstein Snuggery.""We are building castle battlements and a courtyard with a fire pit. We have a great hall complete with shields and armour."2. Drive a stake in the ground at the pit center. You need to attach a string (1 foot) to the stake at one end and the other end to a large nail.

The shooting marks the second time in a little more than a week that an officer has fatally shot a pit bull. The dog was killed on July 31 when it came at officers "in an aggressive manner" while they tried to detain a man in the 4100 block of Shining Way.
